I think for many the answer lies in it being a safer route. You get paid regardless. It's like selling shovels in a gold rush or digging for gold . Shovel sales are constant. Affiliate marketing carries a lot of risk, and little reward for the medium term. Client work carries less risk and greater reward in the medium term.
